Backseat DVD players – cheapest – most effective way to kill your kids

June 30th, 2007 admin No comments

These guys have no idea what they are talking about…… just get a coat hanger! Cheap, easy and effective. Get ‘em early, that’s my motto.

They are a popular accessory for parents hoping to keep their children entertained on long car journeys.

But back-seat DVD players could kill a child in a crash at only 18mph, safety tests have shown.

The screens – commonly strapped to the back of front seats and costing a few hundred pounds – can easily fly off in a collision, hitting rear passengers in the head.

The problem relates to the systems bought as accessories – rather those which are built into the back of headrests.

In a simulated collision, the DVD screen was sent hurtling from the front- seat headrest into the head of a crash-test ‘baby’ sitting in a child safety seat in the back.

The test showed mobile phones and satnav systems in holders attached to the dashboard or windscreen could also fly loose, hitting passengers’ legs and feet.

The phone holders, which are fixed to the interior using suction pads, stayed in place but the phones inside were thrown out.

A satnav system in a similar holder remained in place but one attached to an air vent flew through car.

Save money, don’t buy the drugs, simply dangle your dick in a spider web (pick right type, brown recluse may have adverse reaction).

Scientists have discovered a potentially marketable contraceptive in the venom of Chile’s black widow spider, whose bite is fatal to many but can also cause prolonged, painful and involuntary erections in men.

The venom of the Latrodectus mactans, a variety of black widow found only in the south of Chile, has spermicidal properties not found in black widows in other regions of the world, Chilean Dr. Fernando Romero said.

A teenage guitarist got so carried away while bouncing up and down on his bed mimicking a rock star that he flew out of a third floor window to his death, a Singapore newspaper reported Wednesday.

The Straits Times said Li Xiao Meng, a 16-year-old from China who was studying at Singapore’s Hua Business School, was a keen musician who liked to jump up and down while playing his guitar in his hostel room.

“Three UK ex-servicemen have been given compensation after they were given LSD without their consent in the 1950s. The men volunteered to be guinea pigs at the government research base Porton Down after being told scientists wanted to find a cure for the common cold. But they were given the hallucinogen in mind control tests, and some volunteers had terrifying hallucinations.”

Ninja… vanish!

February 19th, 2006 admin No comments

A 15-YEAR-OLD boy is in stable condition in hospital with a punctured lung and multiple stab wounds after a gang of teenagers attacked him with swords on Thursday evening.

Police are still investigating the attack, but refused to discuss the case yesterday, or say if they have any suspects in custody. Officials believe the boy, whom they would only identify by the pseudonym Jin Ping, was attacked after he tried to break up with his girlfriend.

Jin’s father said the third-year middle school student left home after receiving a phone call at about 7:30pm on Thursday. The father received a call from police about four hours later saying his son had been attacked and was unconscious when he arrived at hospital.

Already on probation for a weapons conviction, Chicago Bears defensive tackle Terry “Tank” Johnson was charged Sunday with aggravated assault and resisting arrest after allegedly threatening a police officer.

“You ain’t the only one with a Glock,” Johnson told the officer, according to Chicago Police. “If it wasn’t for your gun and your badge, I’d kick your ass.”

The threat was against an officer who was ticketing a limousine illegally double parked at 1045 N. Rush at 3:45 a.m. Sunday, said Lt. Joe Schmit of the Near North District. When the officer tried to arrest Johnson, the player allegedly refused to place his hands behind his back to be handcuffed.

Still going postal.

February 2nd, 2006 admin No comments

GOLETA, California (AP) — A former postal worker who had been put on medical leave for psychological problems shot five people to death at a huge mail-processing center and then killed herself in what was believed to be the nation’s deadliest workplace shooting ever carried out by a woman.

The attack Monday night was also the biggest bloodbath at a U.S. postal installation since a massacre 20 years ago helped give rise to the term “going postal.”

Investigators would not discuss a motive for the attack.

Erase bad vibes?

January 15th, 2006 admin No comments

Suppose you could erase bad memories from your mind. Suppose, as in a recent movie, your brain could be wiped clean of sad and traumatic thoughts.

That is science fiction. But real-world scientists are working on the next best thing. They have been testing a pill that, when given after a traumatic event like rape, may make the resulting memories less painful and intense.

Will it work? It is too soon to say. Still, it is not far-fetched to think that this drug someday might be passed out along with blankets and food at emergency shelters after disasters like the tsunami or Hurricane Katrina.
